Yogyakarta, December 1, 2025 — Following the success of AGAK LAEN:
Mystery of The Nursing Home (AGAK LAEN: Menyala Pantiku!), which is currently playing in cinemas and has surpassed 2 million viewers, Imajinari announced its latest slate of projects at JAFF Market 2025.
The newly announced titles are Operation Pesta Pora (Operasi Pesta Pora), Pulang
Kampung, and Bandits of Batavia. Both Operation Pesta Pora and Pulang Kampung are set for release in 2026, while Bandits of Batavia is still in early development.
Operation Pesta Pora marks the feature directorial debut of Edy Khemod, starring
Iqbaal Ramadhan (as Ijal), Kristo Immanuel (Adut), Zulfa Maharani (Tia), and Kawai Labiba (Melodi). In addition to his lead role, Iqbaal Ramadhan also serves as a producer for the first time, alongside Ernest Prakasa, Dipa Andika, and James
Erlangga.
“The story idea actually came from my personal experience with the band Seringai.
At every concert, we would always get reports of pickpocketing incidents. In fact, our vocalist Arian would often shout from the stage, warning the crowd to watch out for the ‘moshpit pickpockets,’” said director Edy Khemod.
“For me, someone who grew up in the music scene and later found recognition through film, this is an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. Film and music are
inseparable for me.
Imajinari’s commitment to giving space for young filmmakers also allowed me to be involved as a producer alongside Ernest Prakasa and Dipa Andika,” said actor and producer Iqbaal Ramadhan.
Pulang Kampung – A Batak Musical by Bene Dion After the success of his drama Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap, Bene Dion returns to direct a new film with Imajinari titled Pulang Kampung, which is planned to enter production and begin filming in 2026.
One of Bene’s inspirations for Pulang Kampung came from audience reactions
during screenings of Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap, when many viewers spontaneously sang
along inside the cinema.
“Pulang Kampung is a Batak musical film.
During special screenings of Ngeri-Ngeri
Sedap, whenever a sad scene played and the soundtrack came on, the audience was
supposed to cry—but instead, many started singing along. That made me think,maybe someday I should make a film that invites people to sing,” said writer and
director Bene Dion.
The film is planned to shoot in the Samosir Island area. According to Bene, there are many beautiful and lesser-known locations in the region that deserve to be showcased to a wider audience.
Bandits of Batavia – Ernest Prakasa’s First Action Film One of the most surprising announcements on the final day of JAFF Market 2025 at Jogja Expo Center was that Ernest Prakasa will direct an action film titled Bandits of Batavia. The film is adapted from a serialized comic of the same name by Bryan Valenza and will be produced as a live-action feature.
Interestingly, Imajinari and Beyondtopia (the production studio behind Bandits of
Batavia) first met at JAFF Market 2024. The project is currently in early stages of
development. Bryan Valenza himself is a comic artist who has worked on several
Marvel titles, including Spiderman, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider.
“Thank you to Bryan Valenza—this brings me closer to a dream I’ve had since 2015:
to direct an action film,” said Ernest Prakasa.
“Imajinari is always eager to explore new creative challenges. We’re excited to
venture into the action genre, though it will be a long process. Further details will be
announced soon,” said producer Dipa Andika.
“This is an action-supernatural story. I’m inspired by traditional silat tales and
Betawi culture, with supernatural elements woven in. It will be a film where
characters possess original Indonesian superpowers,” said Bryan Valenza.
